The main points of the strategy for the period 2026-2030 are about ensuring robust and effective oil spill response that is correctly dimensioned according to operators’ needs. The strategy emphasizes strengthened cooperation with members, authorities, suppliers and other emergency response actors, as well as continuous development through competence building, technology and innovation. <\/p>\n
The strategy has been developed through a broad process with contributions from NOFO’s members, board and administration.<\/p>\n

NOFO’s Professional Forum is a network of contact persons in NOFO’s member companies. Its task is to promote new ideas, suggestions for improvement and advice on the operator companies’ needs in terms of oil spill response. The Professional Forum is thus an advisory body for the CEO of NOFO. <\/p>\n
The network’s input ensures that NOFO’s administration and management are updated on the members’ needs, while at the same time the participants’ knowledge contributes to creating better oil spill response on the Norwegian continental shelf.<\/p>\n

Global Response Network<\/strong><\/p>\n
NOFO is a member of the Global Response Network<\/a>, GRN. This is a global forum for sharing information and experience in operational oil spill preparedness. GRN is not in itself a responder in connection with oil spill response. <\/p>\n
NOFO participates with a representative in the executive committee and with relevant personnel in the individual operational teams.<\/p>\n
After Macondo, several Joint Industry Projects (JIP) were set up to learn from the incident and recommend areas of focus. Some key areas have been highlighted, and a majority of NOFO’s members have internationally accepted these as important principles. <\/p>\n

National oil spill preparedness<\/strong><\/p>\n

- NOFO is part of the established national emergency response model that combines public and private oil spill response resources.<\/li>\n
- This unique organizational relationship between public and private emergency response organizations ensures that responsibilities and lines of command are clearly defined, and that Norway’s total emergency response resources are available at all times.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

NOFO agreement partners<\/strong><\/p>\n
NOFO has agreements with IUAs in the areas that may be affected by acute pollution from the Norwegian shelf.<\/p>\n
The agreement ensures that NOFO can make use of the IUA’s resources if acute pollution threatens the coastal and beach zone along the entire coast.<\/p>\n
The IUA provides personnel for both response management and management in the sector and area. IUA also has equipment and personnel for shielding, management, remobilization and beach cleaning of oil emulsion. <\/p>\n
